Pre-Beginner Show Report

Thanks to Margaret & all at West of England BCC team, for the very warm welcome, great bacon rolls and excellent lunch.  This is a fabulous show, well organized and well supported an ideal start to the year for many.

Special thanks go to my steward Jess Allen who did a wonderful job and put all of the competitors at their ease.  My thanks also go to Jill Davis & her stay team, who kept and very tight ship.

I would like to say that the standard of this class was well above my expectations and most of the dogs in this class could certainly hold their own in higher classes.

My places went to:
1st: No 69 - MITCHAROO SHINKENSEN - Mary Niblett & Mitch - (WS
What can I say, an excellent round with very little to mark.  Accurate heelwork, well motivated with a lovely attitude and attention that some in the higher classes would envy.  I am sure Mitch will not be in PreBeginners very long and will certainly hold his own in Beginners & Novice.        Very many Congratulations and good luck in the higher classes.

2nd: No 20 - MANDERIAN SOLSTICE BELLE OF MOUNTAINLOCHAN - Chris Clements and Corrie
For someone who has only recently come into obedience Chris has a wonderful rapport with her dogs and Corrie is the first of her dogs in my lineup. I believe that Corrie would walk over hot coals for her Mum, another dog with lovely attitude and attention to die for.  A couple of wide turns were all that separated 1st and 2nd place in this class;  this dog who will do well in the higher classes,  I am sure she will not be in PreBeginners very long.                                                              Very well done and good luck in the higher classes

3rd: No 22 - MOUNTAINLOCHAN CHANONRY LAD - Chris Clements & Beeboo

Chris’s 2nd dog in the lineup with only ½ mark separating these 2.  Again great rapport with Mum and attitude to die for.  Barking may be costly in higher classes but as you say, let him enjoy the early classes with no pressure. Another dog destined for higher classes.

He is lovely, good luck with him.

4th:  No 66 - ENAMEL PIPPA- Sandra McQueen & Pippa

Another good round, this dog has nice attention and attitude, a little work required to tighten up heel work will reap rewards.

Good luck for your future shows.

5th: No 52 - BIRTHDAY BO - Simone Hornblow & Bo

This little dog oozed personality, what a showman. Lovely tidy heelwork, a little wide on some turns.  A very neat round for a very smart boy. Boo also got my judges special rosette and was the one dog I would have liked to take home.

He is a little star in the making.

6th: No 77 - JACKHI MISTER JINGLES - Julia Philip & Jingles

To say Julia was nervous would be an understatement; to work first in your first show would not be anyone’s idea of a good introduction to competitive obedience. Julia had little to worry about her little boy did not let himself or Mum down. He was happy and attentive and was not phased by the ring or having someone following him around. I am sure as a team you will go from strength to strength.

Best wishes for future shows

My good wishes go all of the competitors for future shows, enjoy your dogs and remember we always take the best dog home….
